If you plan it they will come... day two.

Saturday September 28th

Frosty morning in Moose Jaw SK

We woke up on Saturday morning cold and a bit of fog. In fact we had to scrape the frost off the car windows! Funny thing is though, we didn't have a scraper in the car so had to use a credit card!

"Fuelled" up, plugged in and ready to hit the road!

After a quick breakfast at Tim Horton's we headed east and south on highway passing  through Rouleau, Weyburn and Estevan before reaching the border at North Portal.

Dog River grain elevator
Rouleau is the location of the fictional town of Dog River in the Canadian sitcom Corner Gas. We had watched it for the first time last night so it was interesting to see that the grain elevator still had Dog River painted on it. The rest of the set, the garage and restaurant, had been removed long ago so the elevator is all that remains.

Across the prairies to North Portal SK

The border crossing was uneventful and there was only one or two vehicles in front of us so it didn't take very long. We had planned to stop in Minot ND for an hour or so but decided to skip it and make our way straight through to Fargo ND.

Somewhere in North Dakota.

After a lunch stop and a couple of gas fill ups we arrived at the West Acres Mall in Fargo. Why that particular spot you ask? It is there that you will find the Roger Maris Museum! After grabbing a bite to eat in the mall's food fair we found the museum display which which pays homage to baseball great Roger Maris. He requested that his collection of memorabilia t o be "put where people will see it.” He also requested that the museum be open to the public free of charge.

Feeling refreshed we found a convenient gas station, filled up and headed for our overnight stop at the Enfield Rest Area near Monticello MN. This leg of the trip was our longest at almost twelve hours of driving so we didn't waste any time settling down for the night... after watching some more Corner Gas of course!
