If you plan it they will come... day four

Monday September 30th

Foggy start to our day....

Woke up to a foggy, muggy morning at the Knute Rockne Travel Plaza. Other than driving there wasn't much planned for the day. After our breakfast we hopped back on the turnpike with the plan to stop for a break at the Wyandot Service Plaza in Ohio. The drive was fairly uneventful for us but Andrew discovered that he hadn't closed the outside cover for the RV's fridge properly and it decided it wanted to stay in Indiana.
We searched for a repair place close to the Wyandot Service plaza and discovered Mobile RV & Marine close to Oak Harbor, Ohio.

On the shore of Sandusky Bay

This provided a scenic, slower paced detour as we made our way north close to the shores of Lake Eire before rejoining the Ohio Turnpike near Elyira, OH.

Once we crossed into Pennsylvania the turnpike took us into scenic valleys, over hills, and though a tunnel or two. It wasn't the most enjoyable stretch as the semi-traffic was very heavy. It appears that these drivers were very focussed and eager to make it to their destinations. As darkness fell in began to rain making for a tense drive and we were relieved to reach our overnight stop at the Sideling Hill Service Plaza near mile 172.

Our overnight parking spot.

Approximate route for day four.

Today's tally.... three states, 860km/536 miles, too many tolls! Tomorrow we're off to Gettysburg PA, Bird In Hand PA and Washington DC.

Thanks for coming along this trip. Would love to hear your comments.
