Time for another road trip

It's about time for another road trip.Other than an oil change and a quick once over there will be no last minute repairs will be done the night before we leave this time! We don't want a repeat of the start of our Portland road trip.

Sharon and I plan to leave on Monday June 2nd and head west and south to Creston BC traveling through Banff, Radium Hot Springs and the Invermere/Windermere valley.

We'll spend one night in Creston then head up to Nelson BC via the Balfour Ferry. We'll spend a good part of the day in and around Nelson before heading to Osoyoos BC for a couple of nights.

From Osoyoos we'll be heading up to the Vancouver area then to Kelowna BC for a night before heading home.

Our route will include a most of the BC section of the Crowsnest Highway. This highway runs along the US/Canada border so we may even drop down into Washington for a bit. Looking forward to some beautiful scenery and twisty roads!

Favorite drives... with an international flavor.

Here's a link to seven of the worlds best driving roads! The article is in a similar vein to the five great Canadian drives in my previous post but takes on an international flavor. There are two of the listed drives almost in my backyard. The Icefields Parkway, otherwise known as Alberta Highway 93, is a beautiful drive that I've had the privelege of driving on several occasions although not in my Festiva. To quote the linked site "this world-class journey offers access to a vast wilderness of pristine mountain lakes, ancient glaciers and broad sweeping valleys. This special travel route winds its way through two national parks, boasting a unique and irreplaceable landscape rich in history and natural beauty second to none." Can't really add much to that!

The other Canadian drive listed is British Columbia's "Sea to Sky" highway. Here's a link to the Trip Advisor site for some reviews. Haven't done this one yet but it's definitely on the bucket list.

The next closest to me is the infamous Tail of the Dragon. This is another one that is definitely on the bucket list. If you've been following this blog at all you'll remember that we did a trip in 2011 to North Carolina for a Festiva Madness V. We hope to return one day and will add this drive to our itinerary.

Of the remaining four drives I think the Argentinian one is the least likely we will ever do but what an adventure it would be! My wife and I are hoping to go to Europe in the not too distant future and we will try and get at least one of the other drives in, most likely Stelvio Pass.

I'd love to hear what your favorite or bucket list drives are!
